A shift in product strategy required an increase in users who took a Stage of Business Assessment. Before this initiative, only about 40% of Elite users had taken the assessment. The goal was to increase the number of users who complete their Stage of Business Assessment within 7 days of account creation. One solution idea was to bring the assessment into the onboarding experience. This prototype was built for usertesting.com as part of an assumption test that adding the assessment to the onboarding would not negatively affect onboarding completion rates. After launch, we carefully monitored the adoption rates of other parts of the product that were originally in the onboarding flow to make sure there was no negative impact.
• The user test proved successful (completion rates and user sentiment were not negatively impacted) and the design was built and launched.
• Stage of Business Assessment completion rates for new users went to >90% and >70% for all users
• The adoption rate of our Weekly Report Tool invite (which was formerly in the onboarding flow) was negatively impacted by a few percentage points. However, we quickly saw those numbers recovered when we put that step into the first step of the Guided Path within the product.
